Analysis of a Foiling Attempt at Behavior Modification

Most of the reports of behavior modification in the classroom are "success" stories, with relatively little attention payed to the problems in implementing the program. This article is a postmortem of a failing attempt at behavior modification and includes the identification as well as discussion of some important conditions necessary for success. Among the variables identified are teacher acceptance of the program, interfering aspects of the teacher-child relationship, adherence by the teacher to a systematic program, and the importance of the psychologist consultative role.
