A Mother's Thoughts on InclusionMargaret N. Carr, MEd, has taught both regular and special education students. A former educational diagnostician and special education supervisor, she is currently principal of Woodway Elementary School in Fort Worth, Texas. She received both BS and MEd degrees from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth and has taken post-master's coursework at Texas Woman's University in Denton. She is currently president of the Learning Disabilities Association of Texas. Address: Margaret N. Carr, Woodway Elementary School, 6570 Woodway Dr., Fort Worth, TX 76133. The year 1993 may become known as the year individuals with learning disabilities lost special education services in the United States. For the first time since the enactment of P.L. 94-142 there is a strong national movement to place all students, regardless of disability, in the regular classroom. This movement has been "sold" to many advocacy groups as meeting these students' need to learn social skills from "normal" peers.
