Resource Teacher Perceptions of the Prevalence of Social Dysfunction Among Students with Learning Disabilities

Mary Geelan

Mary Geelan elementary resource teacher at Panora-Linden Community School District. She received her MS in special education from Iowa State University.

The purpose of this survey was to determine the prevalence of social dysfunction among students with learning disabilities as perceived by resource teachers. The results indicate that up to 38% of this student population was in need of social skills intervention but that relatively few were actually receiving the needed interventions.
