A Systems Approach to Assessment and Treatment

Marc Wichesky

Marc Wichesky is the Coordinator of the Learning Disabilities Pilot Project in the Counselling and Development Centre at York University.

Tom Reynolds

Tom Reynolds is Supervisor of the Family Services department of the Integra Foundation in Toronto, Ontario. Address: Marc Wilchesky, PhD, Counselling and Development Centre, York University, 4700 Keele Street, Downsview, Ontario, Canada M3J IP3.

In recent years more attention has been focussed on the social difficulties of many LD youngsters. The need for an integrated, systems approach to assessment and treatment of socially difficult LD youngsters is discussed. Particular emphasis is placed on the usefulness of routinely involving all family members at least in the initial stages of assessing the social difficulties of the LD child/adolescent.
