Word Processing and Word Processing Related Software for the Learning DisabledThis article is first in a series that uses topical and thematic software reviews as one context for the discussion of issues of software use. Relevant research and published literature provide the complementary context for these topical and thematic issues oriented reviews. With this new approach less attention is given to particular pieces of software, and more attention is given to issues. This first such article identifies an emerging research base on word processing and a set of upcoming Computers in the Schools articles on this topic. It also examines issues associated with using writing activities software, and spelling checker software.—J.W.H., Associate Editor
