Implications of Research

Viewpoint of a Resource Teacher

Linda A. Chisholm, MEd

Linda A. Chisholm is a resource center teacher of the learning disabled at the Canandaigua Primary School (New York). She received her MEd degree in learning disorders and reading from the University of Rochester. Address: Linda Chisholm, Canandaigua Primary School, Canandaigua, NY 14424.

A learning resource teacher reviews some of the current articles (especially concerning aspects of reading) in the learning disabilities journals as they relate to research from other sources and the utilization of this information in the resource classroom setting. Such information is often fragmented and confusing. Yet informal testing of research is continual in the classroom, and the teacher is dependent on this information for growth. Concern is expressed regarding cuts in funding for research.
