A Conditioning Approach to Frustration Reaction In Minimally Brain-Injured Children

Cecelia Pollack, Ph.D.

Director of Learning Rehabilitation Services Maimonides Medical Center Brooklyn, New York

An important behavioral feature of many minimally brain-injured children is that of catastrophic reactions to trivial stimuli. Whether this behavior stems from frustration incurred because of learning disabilities or of more direct pathoneurological etiology, it might be possible to deal with this uncontrolled behavior experimentally by conditioning procedures. The present demonstration study describes such procedures in a special classroom situation.
